Chemicals are used in every part of the textile manufacturing for making fibers, bleaching and dyeing materials, etc… When they arrive in the outlets, our garments still include plenty of chemicals, even garments made of “one hundred pc pure” fiber. Our pores and skin is our body’s largest organ and absorbs anything we placed on it, including chemicals in our garments. The international fashion industry is generating plenty of greenhouse gases due to the energy used during its manufacturing, manufacturing, and transportation of the million garments bought every year. Marysol Kim is a Toronto-based fashion industry skilled and designer who graduated from Seneca’s Fashion Studies certificate and Fashion Arts advanced diploma applications. She currently works at Canada Goose as an Assistant Designer and as an instructor at George Brown College’s Fashion Exchange.
